While the Constitution offers us a wonderful guarantee of freedom, it is, as with all guarantees, only as good of a protection for our liberty as the strength of our demand that it be honored and lived up to. If we continue to sleepwalk through our democracy, assuming that the protections are there automatically, we can assuredly kiss our freedom, our liberty our way of life goodbye. |
